The Michigan State city of Saginaw, with a population in Saginaw County of 197,000, was the location of the Saginaw Valley Racetrack. The 4 furlong oval track, with 183 metre home straight, was situated on Saginaw County Fairground and had a small grandstand capable of seating 2,500 and an even smaller Clubhouse with the capacity to seat 250. The inaugural meeting took place on 16th June 1980 and was rumoured to be the first harness track to open in the state for nigh on 30 years. Staging meetings from late Spring to mid-Summer, the track was launched as Saginaw Valley but later changed its name to Saginaw Harness Raceway. Racing continued for 25 years until the final meeting took place on 1st November 2005. Very little evidence of the track and its former buildings remain, most being demolished by 2010.
